Code of Conduct

Kirribilli Runners Code of Conduct

Adopted by the Kirribilli Runners Committee on 25 November, 2017.

1. Definitions

“Committee Member” means a member of the Kirribilli Runners Committee as appointed by the Director and the Kirribilli Runners Committee from time to time, and as listed on the Kirribllli Runners website at https://www.kirribillirunners.org/about/.

“Director” means the person who is responsible for directing the activities of Kirribilli Runners and as listed on the Kirribllli Runners website at https://www.kirribillirunners.org/about/.

“Deputy Director” means the person appointed by the Director to assume the responsibilities of the Director from time to time and as listed on the Kirribllli Runners website at https://www.kirribillirunners.org/about/.

“Kirribilli Runners Committee” means a group of individuals comprising a committee appointed from time to time by the Director for the purposes of organising KR Runs and KR Events.

“KR Event” or “KR Events” means any event hosted by or associated with Kirribilli Runners, including any KR Run, social event, or other event for the benefit or furtherance of the activities of Kirribilli Runners or in consequence of participation in Kirribilli Runners.

“KR Run” or “KR Runs” means any running event hosted by or primarily associated with Kirribilli Runners.

“Participant” or “Participants” means any person who chooses to participate in any KR Run or KR Event at any time.

“Run Host” or “Run Hosts” means the host or leader of a KR Run as appointed by the Kirribilli Runners Committee and as listed on the Kirribllli Runners website at https://www.kirribillirunners.org/about/, or their appointed representative.

2. Application

This Code of Conduct applies to:

  • All Committee Members;
  • All Run Hosts; and
  • All Participants in Kirribilli Runners, including in any KR Run and/or KR Event.
3. Sanctions

The following sanctions, in addition to others deemed appropriate, may be applied to any Participant in the event of any breach of this Code of Conduct:

  • temporary exclusion from a KR Event;
  • permanent exclusion from a KR Event; and/or
  • permanent exclusion from Kirribilli Runners and all KR Events.
4. General Conduct Expectations

All Participants in KR Runs and KR Events are required to:

  • respect the spirit of fair play and non-violence; respect the talents, rights and privacy of fellow Partipants and Run Hosts; contribute to a safe sporting and social environment and respectful culture, which is accepting of individual differences; and to behave accordingly;
  • observe and comply with all reasonable directions of the Run Host, which directions may include requests to not participate in a KR Event and/or in Kirribilli Runners;
  • conduct themselves in a proper and respectful manner, including but not limited to, in relation to personal behaviour, ethical standards, language, manner, and temper, so as to ensure harmony among Participants;
  • at all times act courteously to the public and observe all local customs and laws and behave in a manner that will not cause offence to others.
5. Breach of Code of Conduct
  • Any alleged breach of this policy by a Run Host or Participant occurring during a KR Run or KR Event may be determined by a Run Host or a Committee Member, whose decision as to whether a breach of the policy has occurred and the sanction that is to be imposed for the breach will be final and binding.
  • Any other alleged breach of this Code of Conduct as well as any alleged breaches occurring during a KR Run or KR Event, and not determined by Run Host or a Committee Member, will be dealt with by the Director in accordance with this Code of Conduct.
  • If a breach of this Code of Conduct is found to have occurred then any sanction under 2 may be imposed. The Participant will be given the opportunity to provide a written explanation of the alleged behaviour and be given an opportunity to make submissions in writing as to penalty if an allegation is found proved.
6. Acknowledgement of Code of Conduct
  • Each Participant shall be made aware of and be required to read this Code of Conduct.
  • By agreeing to read this Code of Conduct each Participant acknowledges that he or she is bound by this Code of Conduct and any specific guidelines issued for the particular KR Event, at any time and in any form, either in writing or verbally, by a Run Host, Committee Member, the Deputy Director or Director.
